In my teens, I travelled to London, England with my bestie and visited the National Gallery where I was struck dumb while gazing at an original of Van Gogh's Sunflower painting. It took me by complete surprise, was pure magic and cast a spell on me. This world-renowned painting actually introduced me to the sunflower, which instantly became my favourite flower. From then on I began to acquire sunflower-themed possessions - hanging artwork, decorating with wallpaper, buying dishes and vasing up as many bunches as I could find when they were available, which was once rare here in Ontario. I also attribute that painting to introducing me to my favourite colour, which is yellow, of course! It wasn't until 30+ years later that I actually got to stand in front of an endless field of dancing sunflowers in the South of France, and it brought me to tears. HAPPY tears...the very best kind. 🌻
Buying our farm in 2020 has enabled me to chase a dream that I didn't even dare to dream, to actually GROW a field of sunflowers.
Follow our social channels for updates on when sunflowers will be available for purchase at our farmstand and local farmer's markets.
